Scandic Mountain Guides offers Ski Touring trips in Iceland from beginning of March until middle of May every year. Our skiing area in Iceland, the Troll Peninsula, has endless options to offer for ski touring, where you can ski from the mountain peak all the way to the Arctic Ocean. In terms of ski touring, there are few places in the world with as many possibilities as the Troll Peninsula in Iceland. The area is vast and largely unexplored. The terrain has a lot of different options, from steep couloirs to easy and moderate slopes.
Prepare for different skiing conditions; fresh powder skiing, skiing in the stable spring corn snow, which is perfect for steep and extreme skiing and more exposed lines than you normally find where avalanches are more likely. Our vertical drop is up to 1.500m or approximately 4.500 ft. in the unbelievable Arctic mountains.
In our Classic programs we normally ski 18,000 – 25,000 vertical feet each day. And when conditions are right and you’re keen to keep going, the mountain sets the limit—not the program.
